Red Swing Project 5/1 – 5/6The Red Swing Project anonymously hangs red swings in public places
inspiring playfulness around the world. In 2007, the Red Swing
Project was founded with the hopes of positively impacting under-
utilized public spaces in Austin, Texas. All it took was a simple
red swing to transform a vacant lot or highway overpass into an
unexpected playground.
Alamo Drafthouse Caddy Shack Quote-Along 5/3Caddy Shack shows us everything that an 80s movie can be,
complete with the old windbag who doesn’t like kids and the misfits
who just want to have fun, and, of course, quotable line after
quotable line.  The Action Pack will make it even nicer by subtitling
all of our favorite lines, bringing in special props (you’d totally
eat a Baby Ruth from a pool right?), and start the whole shebang off
with a bit of a putting competition. 7PM. $12

An Evening with William Shatner Asterisk 5/3 – 5/5William Shatner’s image from the original Star Trek series speaks
on the subject of art in the 21st Century. A talented digital team
has created a dynamic, video Shatner puppet by meticulously cataloguing
everything William Shatner ever said on Star Trek.  Most theatrical works
still hold to a model where the actor is the center of the theatrical
universe, while this considers a post-human theatre, exploring the
possibilities that occur when the principle player is technological
and acts in symbiosis with human performers. Furthermore, celebrity
images function as the raw material: the main character is created by
overtly chopping images together to construct authentic discourse via
contrived, second-hand means. 2PM – 9PM. $20
